For all skill levels, including serious beginners with no experience.

This weekly drawing class is perfect for anyone with a serious interest in learning to draw figuratively or realistically. We begin class with a lesson, then students move on to their personal drawing projects for the remainder of the class. This is an “atelier” style, processed-based drawing program with a focus on “learning to see.” The goal is to capture the 3 dimensional world around us on a 2 dimensional surface with a high degree of craftsmanship and precision. This is not a class for someone who wants to loosen up and get creative and self-expressive after a long day at work. A single drawing can take up to 3 months, sometimes longer. Commitment to seeing deeply and being in the moment is the goal. A finished drawing is never the goal, however, a finished drawing with a high degree of excellence will emerge when students commit to being in the moment and adhering to the process. The joy is in mastering and experiencing the drawing process, not hanging a picture on the wall.

Students will learn drawing concepts and techniques that include: pattern recognition, subject enveloping, blocking in shapes, value, proportion, spatial relationships, sighting, measuring, checking for accuracy, and a lot more!
